Pattern: I used the Sensibility.com Spencer and Pelisse pattern.
Fabric: A lovely Turkey red with matching lining.
I decided to do the double breasted version and pipe the collar. My initial design idea had piping and trim at the wrists and a belt as well, but in the end, I chose not to do that.
Pictures of the completed spencer coming soon.
I'd love to say I liked this pattern, but the truth is, I don't. I won't say I hated it, though my feelings are darn close. This pattern was a nightmare for me from the start. The sleeves were especially troublesome. No matter which way I turned them, the gather lines did not sit where they were supposed to. I ended up re-drawing them in the correct place. I would not recommend this pattern to anyone save an experienced sewer.
That said, others have had no problem with this pattern. There are plenty of pictures and reviews on the Sensibility site. I'd say use caution if using this pattern. I might use it again on the second spencer, but at this point, I'm far to disgusted with it to do so.
ETA Feb. 26, 2008: After a bit of time, my feelings have mellowed slightly on this pattern. I've come to the conclusion that it's got to be just me. No one else seems to have trouble with it.
